Warranty Policy

Our commitment

Every OVERSCALE ART piece is made to be lived with at scale, in homes, hotels, gardens and public spaces. We stand behind the craftsmanship of each sculpture, and we work closely with the makers who produce them.

This Limited Warranty applies to products purchased directly from overscaleart.com by the original purchaser. Coverage begins on the date your order is delivered.

Which warranty applies to your piece

Each piece is covered by one of two warranties.

  • Standard Warranty. Covers defects in materials and workmanship that appear under normal use, for up to 2 years depending on the component.
  • 5-Year Manufacturer's Warranty. Applies to selected pieces. It guarantees the repair of manufacturing defects only, for 5 years.

Standard Warranty

Coverage periods

  • Structure and craftsmanship: 2 years. Cracks, seam or joint separation, and failure of internal frames, armatures, bases or factory-fitted mounting hardware.
  • Finish: 1 year. Peeling, flaking, bubbling or delamination of paint, lacquer, plating or protective coatings.
  • Lighting components: 1 year. LEDs, drivers, switches, cables and other electrical parts supplied with sculptural lighting.

A repair or replacement made under the Standard Warranty is covered for the remainder of the original coverage period.

What the Standard Warranty covers

The Standard Warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship that appear under normal use, when the piece has been installed, used and cared for as described in its product details and in the care guidance below. Examples include:

  • Structural cracks or splits that are not caused by impact or misuse
  • Separation of seams, joints or bonded sections
  • Failure of factory-fitted fixings, brackets or mounting plates
  • Finish defects such as peeling, flaking or bubbling that are not caused by cleaning products, abrasion or impact
  • Electrical faults in lighting components supplied by us

5-Year Manufacturer's Warranty

For pieces marked "5-Year Manufacturer's Warranty", the manufacturer guarantees to repair any defect caused by an error in manufacturing for 5 years from the date of delivery. This warranty is limited to the manufacturer's own errors. It does not cover damage that arises during transportation or as a result of use.

What it covers

Defects that result from a fault in how the piece was made and that were present when it left the workshop, even if they only become visible later. Examples include:

  • Cracks or splits caused by faulty casting, moulding, carving or fabrication
  • Separation of seams, joints or bonded sections caused by incorrect assembly or bonding
  • Failure of internal frames, armatures or factory-fitted fixings caused by a production fault
  • Peeling, bubbling or delamination of a finish caused by incorrect application at the factory

What it does not cover

  • Any damage that occurs during transportation or delivery. Please inspect your piece on arrival and report transit damage within 14 days of delivery under our Return & Refund Policy.
  • Any damage, wear or deterioration that results from use, handling, installation, moving, the environment or the weather, however soon it appears.
  • Replacement of the piece or a refund. The remedy under this warranty is repair.
  • Everything listed under "What is not covered" below.

What is not covered

The following are excluded from both warranties:

  • Damage that occurs in transit. This is handled under our Return & Refund Policy and must be reported within 14 days of delivery.
  • Normal wear and tear, scuffs, scratches, chips or dents from everyday use or contact.
  • Natural ageing and weathering, including gradual fading, chalking or softening of colour from sunlight, and the natural patina that develops on bronze, copper and other metals.
  • Natural variation in materials, such as veining and tonal differences in marble and stone, or slight variations in hand-applied finishes. Products may differ slightly from how they appear on screen.
  • Damage caused by accidents, impact, falls, vandalism, theft, fire, flooding or extreme weather such as storms, hail and lightning.
  • Damage caused by freezing, including water collecting inside or beneath a piece and expanding.
  • Damage caused by improper installation, anchoring, mounting or electrical connection, or by moving the piece after installation.
  • Damage caused by abrasive or chemical cleaners, solvents, pressure washers or other care that differs from our guidance.
  • Pieces that have been altered, repainted or repaired by anyone other than OVERSCALE ART, the manufacturer or a specialist we have approved.
  • Bulbs and other consumable parts, unless they fail within 30 days of delivery.
  • Installation, removal, lifting equipment, labour or site costs, and indirect or consequential losses.

Outdoor and commercial installations

Many of our pieces are made for outdoor and high-traffic spaces. Both warranties apply to these installations when the piece is listed as suitable for outdoor use, is securely anchored, and is cared for as described below. In regions with freezing winters, outdoor pieces should be protected or brought under cover during the coldest months.

For hotels, venues, retail spaces and other commercial settings, the warranties cover manufacturing defects in the same way. They do not cover damage from public handling, climbing, impact or other use beyond display.

Custom and made-to-order pieces

Custom pieces cannot be returned, as they are made to your chosen size, colour, finish or design. They carry the same warranty as the standard version of that piece, as shown on its product page. Before a custom piece goes into production, we confirm its specification with you. Pieces that match the approved specification are not considered defective.

How to make a claim

  1. Contact us within the coverage period. Email support@overscaleart.com with the subject line "Warranty claim" and your order number. Please write to us within 30 days of first noticing the issue.
  2. Show us the issue. Include clear photos or a short video of the defect, a photo of the whole piece, and where it is installed (indoors or outdoors).
  3. Assessment. We reply within one business day. Our team may ask for more photos, measurements or a short video call. For pieces under the 5-Year Manufacturer's Warranty, we share your claim with the manufacturer, who confirms whether the issue is a manufacturing defect.
  4. Resolution. Once the claim is approved, we agree the remedy with you and arrange everything needed.

Please do not attempt repairs, or send a piece back to us, before your claim has been approved. Returns that have not been authorised in advance may be refused.

How we resolve a claim

Standard Warranty. Depending on the piece and the nature of the defect, we will choose the most appropriate remedy:

  • Repair: a professional finish kit or a replacement part sent to you, or a repair by a specialist we approve.
  • Replacement: the same piece, or one of comparable value and design if the original is no longer available.
  • Refund: if repair or replacement is not possible, a refund to the original payment method, up to the price paid for the affected item.

For approved Standard Warranty claims, we cover the cost of shipping replacement parts or replacement pieces to the original delivery address. Where a return is required, we arrange and pay for it.

5-Year Manufacturer's Warranty. Approved claims are resolved by repair. The repair is carried out by the manufacturer or a specialist we approve, or a replacement part or professional finish kit is supplied. If the piece needs to travel for repair, we will confirm the arrangements and any costs with you before work begins.

Caring for your sculpture

  • Dust with a soft, dry cloth. For marks, use a soft cloth dampened with water and a little mild soap, then dry thoroughly.
  • Do not use abrasive pads, solvents, bleach, ammonia-based cleaners or pressure washers.
  • Keep large pieces level and securely anchored, and check fixings and mounts once a year.
  • Outdoors, make sure water can drain away from the base. Remove standing water, snow and ice, and protect pieces from freezing.
  • Keep indoor pieces away from sustained direct heat sources.
  • For lighting, use only the cables and drivers supplied, and switch off the power before cleaning.

Important information

  • These warranties are offered to the original purchaser and cannot be transferred.
  • Proof of purchase from overscaleart.com, such as your order number, is required for every claim.
  • Our total responsibility under these warranties is limited to repairing, replacing or refunding the affected item as described above, up to the price paid for it.
  • These warranties are in addition to, and do not affect, any rights you have under applicable consumer protection laws.
  • This policy forms part of our Terms of Service. Where they differ on warranty coverage, this policy applies.
